We've Got a Thing about Camo: Swedish M/90 Splinter Pattern
The future's bright, the future's ours.
There's a lot of buzz around the UK airsoft industry these days. And with new retailers and sites popping up all over the place, the once feared VCR Act seems to be having a positive effect on the market.
It seems almost as if airsoft has become a forbidden fruit. A whopping 45 sites have joined UKARA and over 6000 registration forms have been downloaded from their site. In addition the Ai office has had over 5000 or so requests for the player registration form.
The Ai crew are certainly becoming more active in Europe and the US this year, we'll be attending a lot more sites and events and this is where you guys can help us out - if you have an event you want us to attend, or a game on, then drop us an email and we'll make sure Ai's there.
Our aim this year is to get out there more and cover and attend even more events than we did last year. In the US the Shot Show and Weekend of Heroes are definitely on our radar and we'll be there in full effect.
We've now found venues for the UK and US Ai 500 and we're busy putting the plans in place to bring you guys what we can only describe as possibly the best big game you'll ever attend - and you won't believe the venue we managed to secure for the US Ai 500 (I know I didn't) but more on that at a later date.
We're having a bit of a change around with the crew as CJ is dipping out of the magazine for a while as he concentrates on his exams. Despite our 15 year old star being a pain in the ass, his refreshing approach, combined with his ability to wind us all up in the office will be sorely missed, but don't worry he'll still be on hand to answer the thousands of emails he gets and before you know it he will be back in the summer (God help us).
There seems to be a new buzzword here in the UK when it comes to hardware and that word is Systema. UK players seem to be turning to this high-end training rifle to add even more realism to their games. They're not cheap, entry level is around £1000, but if you're interested have a look around. Do some digging, as you'll be surprised at what you find, and to help you guys out we'll be placing a Max 3 CQB on staff shooters to find out if they really are the ultimate skirmishing rifle the hype would have us believe.
On the reverse of that CA has just launched their Sports line entry-level rifle that is expected to have a RRP of £100 and if that's not cheap enough for you then have a look at the VCRA exempt two-tone rifles from Airsoft World. Prices start from as little as £89.00.
At this point I'm going to sit back and soak up all the love that our worldwide fan base show us, you know that it's you guys that have made Ai what it is today, which truly humbles me and, I know for a fact, the rest of the Ai family. Ai's not about us, there are no egos on show, there's nothing to prove, it's all about you guys and our worldwide supporters. Ai is your magazine. Airsoft is your industry. Me? I'm in an extremely privileged position. You guys let me into your lives, homes and places of work once a month. I'll always be extremely proud of that and truly thank you for all of your support.
See you on the skirmish field.
