Airsoft International Magazine February 2008
Seeing through rose tinted specs? I don't think so!
Almost three years on and our guiding principles haven't changed - unbiased news and reviews are still our number one priority to you the reader
I've got to start this issue off with a bit of an apology, we were scheduled to bring you a report from one of the big games here in the UK, but because of a camera failure, and the fear that the report would have been less than favourable, the site operator who originally agreed to supply the photography backtracked and refused to do so. I think that the UK site operator in question would have had a less than favourable report due in part to the bad origination and preparation, not to mention game play, but let's not dwell on the bad and instead take a look at two sites from Portugal and the US who were more than willing to allow Ai to cover their events and publish our findings.
Ai was originally set up to help increase the size of the airsoft community, working with the help of manufacturers, retailers and site operators; and due to our unique circulation our goal is still to bring new interest and players into the sport we all love.
Our guiding principles have never changed from day one, which is to report the facts - good, bad or indifferent. I believe that a product or event stands up on its own merits.
We here at Ai have a duty to you the reader and I'm afraid that if manufacturers or site operators have bad products or poor events then we're obliged to report the facts.
Not everything in airsoft can be viewed through rose tinted spectacles.
The eagle eyed amongst you may have noticed a bit of a difference in the last issue, we're gearing up for a bit of a relaunch so we've changed the paper stock and slightly changed the layout of the cover.
It's nothing to worry about it just us experimenting. Believe it or not Ai is almost three years old and it's about time we had a bit of a change around on the cover design (watch this space). Talking of big games, the Ai 500 USA is now taking bookings.
Ai has teamed up with two of the biggest site operators in the US to bring you what is panning out to be one hell of a big game (turn to page 38) to find out how you can become part of airsoft history.
There's a whole lot of buzz around the UK industry about two-toned AEGs and pistols. Our very own Jay Kenton takes an in-depth look at Airsoft World's latest offering and asks if there is a place for two-toned hardware in the UK market? He also spends some quality time on the skirmish field with CA's new Sportline entry-level AEG, which seems poised to take on the 'cheapsoft' sector of the market with some fantastic results.
We're back on board ship this issue with Gear Up as we explore the iconic look of the SAS. It doesn't come cheap, but you'll be the talk of the safe zone if you manage to pull it off!
