ARES TAR 21

The T.A.R. 21 is an Israeli bullpup assault rifle with a selective fire system, the name T.A.R. 21 is an acronym for Tavor Assault Rifle - 21st Century. It was selected as the future assault rifle for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), and has been the standard issued battle rifle for the Givati Brigade since August of 2006 and of the Golani Brigade in August of 2008. The IMI Tavor TAR21 can be seen in service with over 10 countries around Europe, and in the Middle-East. Ares has replicated the IMI Tavor TAR-21 with a fully FRP (Fiber Reinforced Polymer) body and a built in Red Dot Sight as well as a laser aiming device. It features ambidextrous cocking levers with a 1-push bolt/spring release system. Both the front and rear iron sights are available through a simple flip, but are usually hidden along the top of the TAR-21. Due to the unique design of the ARES TAR-21, the spring is located right in the buttstock allowing quick and easy spring changes, therefore allowing you to upgrade/downgrade your rifle on the fly.

The Ares TAR-21 has been built to be compatible with HiCap M4/16 style magazines.

My friend recently got this gun. Very good external quality, and definitely is built to last inside as well. He's using a M120 in it, with great success. The only complaint I had was the red dot. It is not very bright in outdoor games. I know this is usually how RD's are, but for the expense of this replica, I thought it would be something higher. The built in laser is also a little to light for my liking, but it does work well in CQB. Overall, I gave it 4 out 5 stars because of the price and the red dot. The externals and internals are to die for, though. Great piece for indoor, and can hold it's own outdoors as well. Hope this helps, -Wyat

I would pretty much agree exactly with the review above. My first Tavor was a lemon, the laser and red dot were even dimmer than on my new one from RMA and the sliding door didn't work very well. Also the performance was iffy at best. The Ares US distributor handled my return and the experience was as good as it could have been given that RMAs are never any fun. The feel of this gun is amazing and the internals will easily handle an M120 spring according to the Ares distributor. I have not put my 120 spring in the gun yet. I have used this gun with an RA tech 7.4v li-po and it fits the gun much better than the 9.6v NiMh battery I got. Both batteries are 1600 mAhs and I think I really need to pick up something that is 8.4 3300 mah as Ares recommends. This thing runs through my batteries after about 2,000-3,000 rounds at the moment. While the optics were disappointing everything else on the gun feels extremely realistic and the firing performance is great.
